Thought I would add a little background about Vermin & the Beachrat. The Beachrats started in Conrad's basement, just me and Caia the Fire on the drums. I would write a song, go to Conrad's house and make him play it over and over. A friend of ours Ken (the Wizard) Nelson heard about Conrad and I playing, he showed up one day with his bass and amp, we were all friends from school and had played in and out of bands with each other. One day I was having a cookout and John Vicaire came over with a few other friends, we started talking about guitars and he told me he played, we jammed for a while at the cookout, and really Johnny V was fantastic. I went the next day to band practice all excited to tell these guys we have a lead guitar player coming to practice today, on that day, that practice, Beachrats were born.
This picture was a show we did at Yesterday's on June 5th, 1986, it was Bausk Birthday, he ran the light show, well Ken had told him not to flip these 2 switches on at the same time, well sure enough, with about 7 Black Russians lined up in front of him “ BANG ” all the power in the restaurant goes out, upstairs, the dining area, the kitchen, the owner comes running up franticly to Ken, Mr. Wizard just talked calmly to him and led him back downstairs. So then we all turned to Bausk, “ What Happened ” as he was trying to tell us, all of the lights came back on, along with our amps, I'm not sure how Ken did it, but we were able to play for the rest of the night and the owner gave us an extra hundred dollars.
